　The Tokachi River that is 156km in length and is 9,010km² in area of the Tokachi valley is the second biggest river followed by the Ishikari River.
　The river comes from the Mountain of Tokachi (2,077m) that is the range mountain of Taisetsu located in the center of Hokkaido. The river flows to the Pacific as the big river throughout the mountains of Higashitaisetsu and the Tokachi Plain.
　The Tokachi River Hot Spring is located in the center of the Tokachi Plain that is regarded as the food base of Japan on the vast earth cultivated by the Tokachi River. You would be impressed by the sublime landscape and enjoy outdoor entertainment.

　Culture and History

・It has been said that people arriving in Tokachi by a dugout created a weapon by stone and a vessel by soil and developed the era of Jyoumon.

・1640～1645　It has been said that the name, "Tokachi", was on the map of the exploration, when Ainu people ran into the Dutch ship of exploration in the offing of the Tokachi River.

・1855～1860　Mr. Takeshiro Matsuura passed across Karikachi Pass to reach Tokachi and described the Tokachi River and the climate of the Tokachi valley. This is called "Tokachi Journal." Tokachi had started to be focused on because of the journal.

・1869 The Nation of Tokachi was established.
The mother river, Tokachi, has been flowing for the source of our life all the time.

　Sightseeing Spot

Tokachi Hill Park
　The Tokachi Hill Park is a huge park that there is a flower clock recorded in the Guinness Book just after the completion of the construction. The clock is 18m in diameter and the length of the second hand is 10m 10cm. There are the lawn place, the adventure place, the picnic place and the place for all-purpose in the park.

Nakasatsunai Art Museum
　The Nakasatsunai Art Museum is the museum managed by the one of the most famous confectioner, "Rokkatei" in Tokachi. There are the museum, surrounded by the primeval forest, a restaurant and a lawn place.

Wine Castle
　The Wine Castle is the factory of wine. You are able to see the process of making a wine. In the restaurant on the top floor, you would enjoy the meal and the wonderful landscape.

Flower Field Stock Farm
　The owner of the Flower Field Stock Farm is Mr. Yoshitake Tanaka who is a T.V. performer. You may enjoy communing with nature and animal.

Mutsumi Amenity Park
　The Mutsumi Amenity Park is a new sightseeing spot with a beautiful fountain. The park lighted up is especially great in the night.

　Impressive Spot

Lake Shikaribetsu
　Lake Shikaribetsu is the lake in the Taisetsu Mountain National Park. Because of the prohibition of fishing in this area, it is possible to see the fish swimming in the lake that remains of the primitive nature. Here is the best place for the person who would like to enjoy the outdoor entertainment, as the canoe is available.

Shichiku Garden
　More than 2000 kinds of flowers are beautifully in bloom the Shichiku Garden that has 18,000 tsubo. You should not miss seeing it!!

Suzuran Park
　The Suzuran Park is the natural park that a lily of the valley, a cherry blossom, an oak, and a white birch are in bloom.

The Second Observatory
　You are able to see the view of the Tokachi River, the Tokachi Plain, and the Hidaka Mountains from the observatory.

Tokachi Stock Farm
　The Tokachi Stock Farm would impact you with the row of white birch and the old oak tree and the scale of the farm. The landscape from the observatory is also great.

The Swan Place
　Each year, more than 1,000 swans fly to the south area in the Tokachi River hot spring in order to spend the winter.
